Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 Year License: Active Illinois License Certifications: BLS Must-Have: General medical experience; Strong teamwork and communication skills Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Medical Surgical setting. The unit has 20 beds, with patient-to-nurse ratios of 1:4-5 on day shifts and 1:5-6 on night shifts. Registered Nurses will be supported by Patient Care Technicians, present 24 hours a day, with ratios of 1:6-7 on days and 1:10 on nights. The team includes a charge nurse on each shift, available 24 hours a day, who may take a patient assignment if staffing is short. A house supervisor is also available 24/7. Telemetry monitoring is available for some patients, with a central station for monitor technicians; bedside RNs are not required to read strips. Shifts will be 12 hours long, and there is a requirement for every other weekend working. Nurses will be required to work three out of six designated holidays per year. Floating may occur based on staffing needs, with traveling RNs being the first to float. There is no specific dress code, and scrubs are not provided for this position. Ideal candidates will possess experience in general medical and surgical settings.
