About the Role
The Company is in search of a Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to spearhead a significant transformation in nursing excellence. The CNO will be the senior executive for nursing practice, patient care delivery, and the nursing workforce, with a focus on strengthening nursing practice, building a high-performing leadership structure, and creating a culture of accountability and professional development. This role is pivotal in leading a large team of nurses across various services, including inpatient, emergency, perioperative, primary, and ambulatory care, and behavioral health. The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in nursing administration or a related field, current New York State RN licensure, and a minimum of 8 years of progressive nursing experience, with at least 6 years in administration or management. Experience in a complex acute care environment, a unionized setting, and a diverse, urban, or public healthcare experience is strongly preferred. The successful CNO will be responsible for the quality and consistency of nursing practice, workforce strategy, clinical outcomes, regulatory readiness, and the development of nursing leaders at all levels. They must have a proven track record in leading nursing practice, quality, safety, and operational improvement, as well as experience in a Magnet-designated organization or direct leadership of Magnet readiness. The role requires a leader who can effectively partner with physicians, executive peers, and frontline staff, and who has a strong background in recruiting, developing, and retaining nursing leaders. Behavioral health nursing leadership exposure is also desirable, given the current needs of the company's behavioral health services. The CNO will be a key member of the senior leadership team, working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and the System Chief Nurse Executive, and will play a critical role in the company's mission to provide quality, patient-centered care.
