Community Outreach Manager

Description

The Community Outreach Manager leads Sierra Vista's communications, community outreach, brand awareness, and community partnerships. The position is responsible for telling Sierra Vista's story clearly and consistently, increasing awareness and referrals to programs, and engaging donors and community partners in ways that support members and strengthen the organization.

This position requires a strong communicator who can cast a vision, build effective systems, and consistently follow through from idea to execution. The Manager leads a small team and works closely with Program Directors to ensure outreach efforts are responsive to program and community needs.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
2. Five or more years of relevant experience in communications, marketing, public relations, community engagement, or related work.
3. Two or more years of supervisory or project leadership experience.
4. Demonstrated ability to build relationships and represent an organization effectively in the community.
5. Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to establish systems, manage competing priorities, and follow through.
6. Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, behavioral health, education, or human services preferred.
7. Experience with fundraising, donor engagement, sponsorships, or community partnerships.
8. Experience with digital communications, social media, websites, CRM or donor databases, and community events preferred.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Operate an agency vehicle or personal vehicle for work-related activities, which may include visiting clients, attending meetings, transporting materials, and participating in community or agency events. Maintain a valid driver's license, current vehicle registration, and insurance in compliance with agency policy and state law
2. Ability to communicate ideas in oral and written form.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop agency resources and conduct formal agency wide trainings.
2. Responsible for implementing leadership development concepts in staff oversight, including time management, purposeful coaching and development, effective communication, and meeting facilitation.
3. Manage day-to-day operations and ensure compliance with all personnel legal requirements, including staff oversight, hiring, scheduling meal periods, and approving timesheets.
4. Collaborate to develop and expand department/program services, track relevant metrics, and make modifications as needed.
5. Promote a healthy working environment that values staff and equips them to succeed while making sustainable decisions in a way that strengthens both our workforce and our impact.
6. Develop the annual budget for the program/department and collaborate on budget reports.
7. Responsible for contract review and ensuring deliverables are met. (Maintenance).
8. Responsible for developing operational strategies and initiatives across programs and systems within the division.
9. Responsible for executing organizational strategies and initiatives.
10. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (such as HIPAA) for reports, records, and policies as outlined in contracts.
11. Develop and maintain a procedural manual for program operations.
12. Responsible for identifying and mitigating risks associated with potential adverse events, outcomes, or behaviors stemming from legal, ethical, or operational process breakdowns.
13. Each leader is directly accountable for the outcomes of their program or area of responsibility through a mindset of ownership, continuous improvement, and follow-through.
14. Lead organizational writing and storytelling across digital and print channels; produce newsletters, regular electronic communications, and the annual impact report; capture and communicate program successes, member stories, and organizational priorities.
15. Ensure all communication and branding are recognizable, consistent, timely, professional, and aligned with Sierra Vista's mission across all communication channels.
16. Develop targeted outreach strategies based on promote programs based on needs, available classes and services, and events. This can be through presentations, campaigns, and community outreach.
17. Identify opportunities for Sierra Vista to be visible, engaged, and well represented throughout the community.
18. Build and maintain relationships with schools, referral sources, community organizations, businesses, and other partners, and ensure consistent communication and follow-up with community partners and supporters.
19. Engage donors, volunteers, and community partners by developing sponsorships, giving opportunities, supply drives, volunteer opportunities, and other forms of community support that grow unrestricted and flexible funding for organizational and member needs.
20. Oversee community awareness, fundraising, and organizational events.
21. Establish annual priorities, work plans, and timelines with clear project ownership, and develop systems that ensure coordination, consistent follow-through, and measurable results across outreach, engagement, and fundraising.
