Job Title Policy Analyst – Knight-Georgetown Institute (KGI) Responsibilities Work on policy questions at the frontier of competition policy and AI policy Engage directly with leading researchers, expert practitioners, and key policymakers in the US, EU, and UK Operate in a small, high-performance team with increasing responsibility over time Contribute to shaping KGI’s policy communications and participate in the design and execution of high-level convenings, including the annual Digital Competition Conference Collaborate with senior staff and external experts and demonstrate independent judgment, cross-disciplinary thinking, and commitment to high-quality work on set timelines Role Focus The Policy Analyst will work primarily across KGI’s competition policy and generative AI portfolios. This includes engaging deeply with academic literature, synthesizing evidence across disciplines (economics, law, computer science, and social science), and producing written work for policy audiences at the state, federal, and international levels. Requirements and Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., economics, computer science, public policy, or a related discipline) 2 years of relevant experience in policy analysis, research, or a similarly analytical role Demonstrated ability to produce clear, well-structured, and persuasive written work for policy audiences Strong critical thinking skills, including the ability to synthesize empirical or technical evidence Demonstrated interest in technology policy, including areas such as competition policy or AI policy Ability to manage multiple workstreams, operate independently, and meet deadlines Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality output Comfort using modern research and writing support tools, including AI-based tools Preferred Qualifications Graduate degree in a relevant field Familiarity with microeconomics, industrial organization, or antitrust concepts Familiarity with AI policy or governance, including model risks and regulatory frameworks Familiarity with quantitative social science research methods Direct experience in policy or advocacy at the federal or state levels pertaining to competition or AI Salary The annual salary range for this position is $60,000.00 – $70,000.00 maximum. (This is the KGI-specified range for this position, please disregard the university range posted on the application site.) Georgetown University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity and external market pay for comparable jobs. Work Arrangements This is a hybrid position and applicants for this role must be based in Washington, D.C. Interrelations The Policy Analyst will report to the Associate Director and work closely with KGI’s Executive Director, Senior Technologist, and other team members. The role involves regular collaboration with Georgetown colleagues and external stakeholders, including researchers, policymakers, and practitioners.
