Job Opportunity

We are currently seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Family Birthing Center team in Salida, CO. This position entails working nights from 1800 to 0600, totaling 24 hours per week, with weekend and holiday availability required. Overtime is optional after a defined threshold.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of nursing experience is required.
• Must possess an active Registered Nurse license in the State of Colorado.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications are mandatory.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is preferred.
• Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.

Scope of Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse in the Family Birthing Center will independently assess and evaluate the health status of both laboring and neonate patients. The role includes identifying healthcare issues and collaborating with patients, families, healthcare providers, and team members to create appropriate care plans with achievable goals.

Essential Duties

• Provide direct patient care and monitor responses during labor, delivery, and the postpartum phase.
• Offer continuous education to promote wellness for mothers during and after pregnancy.
• Educate mothers on infant care practices.
• Document patient events and education in medical records using computers.
• Communicate patient conditions to physicians and nursing supervisors verbally and in writing.
• Assist colleagues in maintaining skills and learning new procedures.
• Collaboration with nursery nurses for the care of mother-baby dyads.
• Support physicians during procedures as needed.
• Provide assistance to nursing management as requested.
• Help respond to emergencies in other areas of nursing when possible.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for all patients in the Family Birthing Center.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this position include:

• Regularly using hands for various tasks, as well as speaking and hearing.
• Frequent standing, reaching, and stooping.
• Occasionally walking or sitting as needed.
• The ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and adjusting focus.
