Position Summary & Description

Candidates must demonstrate current clinical expertise and will be required to teach a variety of undergraduate courses throughout the curriculum.

Position Qualifications

Required:

• Master of Science in Nursing is preferred.
• Candidates without a graduate degree may be considered when fully qualified faculty are not available and shall teach under guidance of another qualified faculty member in the department.
• Candidates without a graduate degree in nursing shall have a baccalaureate degree in nursing and evidence of a plan for obtaining a graduate degree in nursing within a 5-year period.
• Candidates without a degree in nursing but hold a graduate degree in a subject area pertinent to their area of teaching may be considered to teach in a specialized area of health care practice.
• Candidates must also possess a current USA RN license.
• All candidates must communicate effectively and perform well during interview(s), including a teaching demonstration.

Essential Functions

To perform the essential functions of the job, this position requires working at third-party sites that are not owned or controlled by the University. These sites may have various health and safety requirements for IUP employees to enter their facilities. These requirements may include, but are not limited to, providing proof or certification that you are fully vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 virus and its variants, influenza, and possibly other transmissible viruses. The selected candidate for this position will have to adhere to all other policies of the field sites, which may include, but not be limited to, background clearance checks, drug testing, and medical clearance.

• Teach courses assigned by the departmental chair on a schedule made of a combination of standard class-meeting times as determined to meet instructional needs and adhere to the requirements of the department's curriculum.
• Teach courses for a mandated number of contact hours per week over a full semester and meet university expectations for final exams.
• Present course material in a clear and organized manner using methodologies appropriate to the discipline.
• Evaluate student work fairly and promptly.
• Perform the physical requirements of laboratory, field work, studio work, or other activities outside typical classroom instruction if applicable.
• Maintain current knowledge of the discipline through continued scholarly activity and research.
