Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Neurology department at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. The LPN will collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other health‑team members to coordinate and provide focused, episodic care to Rutgers Health patients. Care includes health promotion, maintenance, and management of health‑related problems delivered in person or by telephone. Key Responsibilities Explain procedures and treatments to patients to gain cooperation and allay apprehension. Assist patients who are medically complex or have sensitive medical or social issues. Review plan of care, medication and test orders with physicians as needed. Contact pharmacy for prescription renewals. Set up and download 24‑hour ambulatory blood pressure monitors. Document all patient correspondence and communications with other health‑care providers. Administer prescribed medications and teach patients how to administer injectable medication within the New Jersey Board of Nursing scope of practice. Qualifications Valid registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New Jersey. Ability to function in a team environment. Basic word processing and computer skills. Preferred Qualifications At least six (6) months of experience in an acute hospital setting. Physical Demands and Work Environment Standing, walking, and sitting 2/3 of the time; use of hands to finger, handle, or feel 2/3 of the time; reach with hands and arms over 1/3 of the time; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl under 1/3 of the time. Speaking or hearing over 2/3 of the time. Lifting up to 10 pounds 1/3 of the time and up to 25 pounds under 1/3 of the time. Work environment involves moderate noise and occasional exposure to blood‑borne pathogens and hazardous waste, requiring personal protective equipment.
