CNC Milling Expert

We are looking for a CNC Milling Expert to join our team in East Hartford, CT. This position requires someone with strong expertise in CNC prototype machining to assist with cutting-edge product development and quick prototyping projects. We need a skilled machinist who excels in an environment where precision, creativity, and teamwork are crucial.

The focus of this role is on crafting intricate prototype parts, tools, and test equipment for next-gen mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, tackle machining challenges, and lend support to fast-paced engineering initiatives from start to finish.

Duties

• Plan, configure, and run CNC mills and lathes to produce accurate prototype components
• Carry out intricate machining tasks, with a focus on multi-axis milling and prototype development
• Use Haas and Fanuc controls to execute precise machining processes
• Develop and enhance machining methods, tools, and CNC programs with software like MasterCam
• Fabricate parts based on engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical diagrams
• Inspect completed parts to ensure they meet size, tolerance, and quality standards
• Operate manual machining tools such as Bridgeport mills, manual lathes, and surface grinders
• Work closely with engineers and tech teams to refine designs and enhance manufacturability
• Support rapid prototype builds, testing, and engineering changes
• Help with fixture design, tool selection, and process enhancements for low-volume prototype production
• Maintain a safe, orderly, and efficient machine shop environment

Requirements

• Solid background in CNC machining, including setup, operation, and programming of mills and lathes
• Experience with multi-axis machining operations is desirable
• Proficient in working with Haas and Fanuc control systems
• Familiarity with MasterCam or similar CAM programming tools
• Hands-on experience using manual machining tools like mills, lathes, and grinders
• Able to interpret detailed mechanical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications
• In-depth knowledge of machining processes, tooling, feeds/speeds, and precision measurement techniques
• Strong problem-solving abilities in prototype or custom manufacturing settings
• Keen attention to detail and dedication to producing quality precision parts
• Capable of working independently while supporting collaborative engineering and development teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous involvement in prototype development, R&D, aerospace, automotive, defense, or advanced manufacturing programs
• Experience with high-precision machining for high-performance mechanical systems
• Adept at working from 3D CAD models and engineering assemblies
• Able to contribute to quick iteration and low-volume production setups
• Strong mechanical aptitude and practical fabrication skills
• Experience in fixture design and process optimization initiatives
