Company Description Watertown Animal Hospital is a full-service small animal hospital caring for dogs and cats from Jefferson, Lewis, and surrounding counties, including the Fort Drum community. Located at 1445 Washington St in Watertown, New York, the hospital offers comprehensive veterinary services in a modern, well-equipped facility. In addition to small animal care, the practice provides ambulatory large animal services for cattle, goats, horses, and other livestock in Jefferson County. Role Description The Licensed Veterinary Technician is a full-time, on-site role based at Watertown Animal Hospital in Watertown, NY. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, and treatments for small animals, and supporting care for large animal patients as needed. The role involves performing technical procedures such as venipuncture, radiology, laboratory testing, anesthesia monitoring, and surgical preparation, as well as administering medications and treatments. The technician will provide attentive nursing and pet care, maintain accurate medical records, and ensure a clean, safe, and well-organized clinical environment. Regular client communication and education about treatment plans, preventive care, and post-visit instructions are key aspects of this position. Qualifications Strong Animal Care and Pet Care skills, including handling, restraint, and compassionate nursing for small and large animals. Proficiency in Veterinary Technology, such as laboratory procedures, radiology, medical record keeping, and assisting with diagnostics and treatments. Experience or training in Anesthesiology, including anesthesia induction, monitoring, recovery, and pain management under veterinary supervision. Ability to provide clear, supportive Client Education on preventive care, treatment plans, medications, and post-operative instructions. Current licensure as a Veterinary Technician (LVT or equivalent) in New York State, or eligibility to obtain licensure. Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills, with attention to detail and adherence to safety and infection control protocols. Comfort working in a fast-paced clinical environment and assisting with both small and large animal cases.
