Data Center Technician - Elk Grove, IL

What You’ll Do Maintain data center operations to ensure service availability and reliability. Conduct hardware and network diagnostics and repairs. Perform root cause analysis of hardware and software failures. Train internal teams. Develop documentation. Provide technical support to data center teams. Create scripts to update server and networking hardware. Maintain inventory. Assemble and install equipment. Perform maintenance of test and tool equipment. Travel up to 10% of the time to other data center locations as required by business needs. Respond to on‑site equipment failures or emergencies within 60 minutes while on scheduled on‑call rotation. Who You Are Computer hardware experience (troubleshooting, assembling). Linux operating system experience. Ability to transport and position equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to remain stationary (sitting or standing) for extended periods to perform diagnostic and repair tasks. Ability to maneuver in cramped or elevated spaces, such as under‑floor areas or on ladders, to access server racks. Fine‑motor skill proficiency for handling small hardware components and cables. Availability to work a flexible schedule within a 24/7 environment, including rotating on‑call shifts. Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and react quickly to issues. Capability to perform essential job duties in a climate‑controlled data center with temperatures ranging from 60°F to 90°F. Preferred Hands‑on or education‑based experience in computer hardware troubleshooting and repair, data center operations, computer networking, scripting (Python, Bash, or similar), and Cisco IOS and/or Juniper JunOS. Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in an IT‑related field.
