Head of Housekeeping

We are looking for an experienced and dependable Head of Housekeeping to lead our housekeeping team and ensure our guest rooms consistently meet high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest readiness.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone with hotel housekeeping experience, a strong eye for detail, and the ability to keep a team organized and accountable.

Responsibilities

• Create daily housekeeping schedules based on occupancy, arrivals, departures, and staffing levels.
• Determine daily staffing needs and adjust assignments as business demands change.
• Assign rooms and distribute workload fairly and efficiently.
• Monitor housekeeping progress throughout the day and ensure rooms are completed on schedule.
• Thoroughly inspect guest rooms before they are released as clean and ready for sale.
• Ensure rooms meet hotel standards for cleanliness, supplies, linens, and overall presentation.
• Identify rooms needing additional attention and ensure corrections are completed before release.
• Communicate with the Front Desk regarding room status, priority rooms, early arrivals, and delays.
• Train, coach, and hold housekeeping staff accountable for quality, productivity, and hotel procedures.
• Report maintenance issues, damage, missing items, and other concerns to management or maintenance.
• Monitor housekeeping supplies and linens and communicate ordering needs to management.
• Maintain organized housekeeping closets, carts, linen areas, and storage areas.
• Assist with cleaning guest rooms when needed, including during busy periods or staff call-outs.
• Assist with deep cleaning, special projects, and other housekeeping needs as necessary.
• Follow and enforce hotel, safety, and sanitation procedures.

Qualifications

• Previous hotel housekeeping experience required.
• Supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail and high standards for cleanliness.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to schedule staff, prioritize work, and adapt to changing hotel needs.
• Ability to train and hold employees accountable in a professional manner.
• Must be comfortable working hands-on and assisting with room cleaning when needed.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of hotel housekeeping.

The right person will take ownership of the housekeeping operation, notice problems before they become guest complaints, and be comfortable saying, “This room isn't ready yet,” when a room doesn't meet our standards.
