Flexible rotating schedule with a strong work-life balance:

• 12-hour shifts
• 2-week rotating schedule
• Only 1 weekend per pay period

Premium pay available for additional shifts outside standard schedule. Opportunity to practice a broad range of urgent care medicine including:

• Acute walk-in visits
• Follow-up care
• Simple procedures (I&Ds, injections, etc.)

Strong operational support including:

• Medical Assistants
• LVNs & RNs
• Front Desk/PSS support
• Social Work resources

Established onboarding, mentorship, and APP training programs through the Greater Austin Region APP leadership team. Opportunity to support additional Hill Country locations including Burnet Urgent Care. Outpatient-only role utilizing Epic EMR. Ideal opportunity for experienced providers seeking:

The Physician Assistant (PA) Urgent Care is a licensed, certified healthcare provider. They render direct patient care and have prescriptive authority. They are credentialed, privileged, and billed as an independent provider by Medicare and Medicaid. The Advanced Practice Provider offers medical care based on the supervising physician's scope of practice. They typically care for patients in an urgent or convenient care clinic.

Essential functions of the role include:

• Assessing the physical and mental condition of patients by performing and obtaining comprehensive or problem-focused physical examinations and medical histories.
• Ordering, collecting, interpreting, and evaluating laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs.
• Prescribing or recommending medical drug therapies or other therapeutic treatments. Performing procedures following approved policies, focusing on efficacy, safety, and cost. Recommending interventions to change behavior linked to health risks.
• Formulating and implementing comprehensive patient treatment plans based on assessments. Using evidence-based medicine, standards of care, and guidelines. Collaborating with physicians and team members when appropriate. Evaluating patient's response to care and its effectiveness.
• Counseling patients and families on medical processes, illness management, medication, nutrition, and health promotion. Counseling patients about drug regimens and possible side effects or interactions with food supplements, over-the-counter medications, and herbal remedies.
• Maintaining appropriate records detailing the patient's treatment plans and outcomes. Initiating timely consultation and referral when the problem exceeds scope of practice or expertise.
• Providing consultation level services for conditions/problems related to the Provider's specialty and training.
• Performing invasive procedures specific to scope of practice and provider's level of expertise as delegated by supervising Physician.
• May be required to perform patient care duties beyond regular schedule based on coverage needs of the department.

Key success factors include:

• Know the information and techniques to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.
• Knowledge of practices, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Interpersonal skills
• Critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills
• Skill in the use of computers and related software applications
• Ability to develop and implement comprehensive outcomes-based patient treatment plans
• Ability to counsel patients concerning medical and psychological/psychiatric conditions, treatment plans, and behavior modification
• Ability to interpret and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests
• Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of Texas
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer
• Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA)
