Speech Language Pathologist

Southern Will County Cooperative for Special Education (SOWIC) is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist. This position reports to the Executive and/or Assistant Director of Special Education and Program Administrator. The role involves utilizing leadership, advocacy, and collaboration to provide prevention, assessment, and remediation services for students with language, speech, voice, and fluency difficulties. The aim is to help children meet their educational goals.

Responsibilities include:

• Planning and preparation of a program that addresses local school speech-language goals.
• Coordinating speech-language services with other student services provided by school personnel.
• Maintaining records of the speech-language program and preparing periodic reports.
• Developing appropriate IEPs based on students' strengths and needs.
• Establishing and maintaining orderly classroom behavior.
• Arranging therapy environment to create optimum learning conditions.
• Assessing students' communication skills to identify communication disorders.
• Providing speech and language therapy to minimize adverse effects of speech and language disorders.
• Providing consultation to parents, teachers, and other school personnel.
• Engaging in continuing education and professional growth activities.
• Observing all SOWIC policies and procedures.
• Performing other duties as assigned by SOWIC administration.
