Executive Leadership OpportunityBoys & Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast is seeking an exceptional Chief Financial Officer to serve as a strategic partner to the CEO, a trusted advisor to the Board, and a decisive member of the Executive Team. This leader will steward the financial strength of a complex, multi-site organization while helping drive growth, accountability, modernization, and long-term impact.This is a high-expectation role for a proven finance executive who can move fluently from Board-level strategy to operating detail. The CFO must bring deep command of nonprofit finance, government funding, audits, compliance, cash flow, internal controls, and financial systems—and the leadership presence to turn that expertise into sound decisions across the enterprise.The successful candidate will be visible, hands-on, candid, and deeply committed to the mission. This is not a role for a passive reporter, a narrowly focused technician, or a leader who prefers to operate at a distance.Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast serves young people and families across Orange County through nearly 30 Club sites, with an annual operating budget of approximately $14–15 million and a workforce of approximately 275 employees. We are strengthening our infrastructure, modernizing our systems, expanding partnerships, and positioning the organization for its next era of impact. Deliver accurate, timely, decision-ready reporting, forecasting, dashboards, and Board materials—and explain what the numbers mean.Protect the enterprise. Strengthen internal controls, audit readiness, grant and contract compliance, risk management, liquidity, and accountability.Drive sustainable growth. Test strategy, investments, staffing models, programs, partnerships, and capital decisions against mission impact and financial reality.Modernize the finance function. Optimize NetSuite, ADP, and connected systems, improve data integrity, automate appropriate workflows, and reduce unnecessary manual work.Build a high-performing team. Set clear standards, develop talent, strengthen ownership, and establish finance as a trusted and solutions-oriented enterprise partner.Core ResponsibilitiesStrategy and GovernanceAdvise the CEO, Board, and Executive Team on performance, tradeoffs, opportunities, emerging risks, and major strategic decisions.Lead annual and multi-year planning, budgeting, rolling forecasts, scenario analysis, cash-flow strategy, reserves, investments, and capital planning.Present complex financial issues with clarity, candor, and actionable recommendations.Finance Accounting and ComplianceEnsure timely and accurate GAAP-compliant financial statements, monthly and year-end closes, reconciliations, revenue recognition, restricted-fund accounting, and management reporting.Own internal controls, financial policies, approval structures, segregation of duties, fraud prevention, and enterprise financial risk.Lead financial statement and Single Audits, tax and regulatory filings, retirement plan audits, and prompt remediation of findings.Provide executive oversight of government grants and contracts, including reimbursement funding, allowable costs, indirect costs, match requirements, billing, reporting, and closeout.Maintain rigorous cost-allocation practices across programs, sites, departments, and funding sources.Systems Operations and TalentOwn the finance technology roadmap and optimize NetSuite, ADP, reporting tools, integrations, permissions, data governance, and business continuity.Partner with Program, Development, People, and Operations leaders to improve decisions and end-to-end processes.Lead, coach, and hold the finance team accountable for accuracy, responsiveness, service, and continuous improvement.Nonnegotiable QualificationsAt least 10 years of progressively responsible finance and accounting experience, including meaningful senior leadership responsibility.Deep command of GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, financial reporting, internal controls, audit leadership, and financial systems.Substantial nonprofit or comparable multi-program experience involving restricted funding and complex operating environments.Proven ownership of government-funded programs, reimbursement contracts, cost allocation, compliance, and end-to-end grant finance.Experience advising a Board or Board committee and the executive presence to challenge, influence, and build confidence.A record of developing teams, improving systems, managing change, and translating financial complexity into decisive action.Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.Unquestioned integrity, excellent judgment, direct communication, and a genuine commitment to the potential of young people.Strongly PreferredCPA, CMA, MBA, or comparable advanced credential; prior CFO, Vice President of Finance, Controller, or equivalent experience; NetSuite expertise; success leading finance transformation and system integration; and working knowledge of Uniform Guidance, Single Audit requirements, California nonprofit compliance, and public funding.The Executive We WantMission anchored—connecting every financial decision to organizational strength and better outcomes for young people.Strategic and hands-on—equally credible in the Board room, the forecast, the audit file, and the operating conversation.Candid and solutions driven—raising concerns early, communicating facts clearly, and bringing a path forward.Demanding and developmental—setting a high bar while building the people and systems required to meet it.Modern and disciplined—using technology intelligently without compromising controls, accuracy, or judgment.What Success Looks LikeWithin 12 to 18 months, the CFO will have earned confidence in the finance function; established decision-useful reporting and forecasting; strengthened controls, audit readiness, grant compliance, and cash-flow planning; advanced the systems roadmap; and built an accountable team.This is an opportunity to help lead a respected organization with meaningful scale, an ambitious future, and a mission that matters.
