The Manager of Shared Services in the Division of Research provides administrative oversight of university-wide research, interdisciplinary centers, and engagement initiatives. The Division of Research empowers research at TU by providing the leadership, service, partnerships, and support that enable research to flourish across the university. The position reports to the Vice President for Research and supports operations across multiple units, including the Towson Artificial Intelligence Institute (TAI), the Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Inquiry (OURCI), the Center for Interdisciplinary and Innovative Cybersecurity (Cyber4All), and the Office of Sponsored Programs and Research (OSPR). This position serves as a leadership role within a shared-services operational model that supports staff, faculty, students, and affiliated programs across multiple research and innovation initiatives. The Manager of Shared Services will supervise administrative support staff, oversee shared operational workflows, coordinate service delivery across units, and support strategic growth and operational continuity for a growing portfolio of university programs. Description - External Manages shared administrative and operational services supporting multiple units within the Division of Research. Reports directly to the Vice President for Research and serves as the primary operational lead for shared administrative services supporting OURCI, Cyber4All, and TAI. Supervises administrative staff supporting OURCI, Cyber4All, and TAI. Establishes operational priorities, assigns workflows, and ensures continuity of services across multiple units and initiatives. Develops, implements, and maintains shared-service operational procedures. Oversees operational workflows for travel, payroll coordination, scheduling, purchasing, facilities coordination, event support, and administrative services performed by shared-services staff. Oversees operational planning for projects and events supporting university-wide research, innovation, outreach, workforce development, and student engagement, particularly those offered by Cyber4All, TAI, and OURCI. Conducts special projects and annual reporting for the Cyber4All Center, TAI, and OURCI. Telework may be available for this position, up to two days per week, after 90 days of service in good standing. Qualifications - External Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Five years of progressively responsible administrative, operational, project management, or program management experience. Adept with various computer software packages, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation programs; Internet, email, and calendaring software; and responsible use of AI software. Demonstrated supervisory or personnel management experience. Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Ability to manage event scheduling. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple complex and ongoing assignments. Ability to interact with students, staff, and faculty at all levels in a courteous and efficient manner. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, cybersecurity, information technology, data analytics, or a related computing field. Experience with PeopleSoft/Stratus or equivalent, AI software (e.g., ChatGPT), and design software (e.g., Canva, Marq). Experience supervising administrative operations or shared-service teams. Prior experience in a college or university setting. Salary and Benefits Targeted hiring range is $73,000-$77,000 and full university benefits that include 22 days of annual leave, up to 17 holidays, personal and sick days; excellent health, life, and retirement plans; and tuition remission.
