Treasury / Margin & Collateral Systems Engineer (Python) - Own the engine behind financing

Philadelphia, PA

Build the systems that move real money, in real time

You’re not looking for another generic Python role. You want to sit where technology, financing, and risk actually meet.

In this role, you design and own the systems that underpin firm-wide treasury and financing operations — margin, collateral, haircuts, cash, funding, exposure, and more.

Your code will drive margin lending, repos, stock loan workflows, and the data that treasury, operations, and risk teams rely on every single day.

You’ll be close to the business, working directly with Treasury, Operations, Risk, and Technology to turn messy real-world requirements into clean, production-grade systems.

What You'll Work On

You’ll be the backbone engineer for treasury, margin, and collateral technology:

• Margin, collateral, haircuts, and financing workflows
• Margin lending, repo, and stock loan processes
• Cash movements and funding workflows
• Exposure and financing reporting
• Data feeds and reconciliations
• Real-time and near-real-time reporting for treasury users
• Platform improvements and automation
• Scenario and “what-if” analysis capabilities

Python is your primary tool, backed by strong SQL and relational databases to keep financing data clean, fast, and reliable.

This is about building the systems that treasury relies on when the market is moving fast.

What You'll Be Doing

• Designing and building Python-based systems for treasury, margin, and collateral operations
• Owning end-to-end workflows for margin, collateral, haircuts, and financing
• Implementing and enhancing processes for margin lending, repo, and stock loan
• Developing and maintaining cash movement, funding, and exposure reporting tools
• Building and supporting data feeds and reconciliations across financing platforms
• Delivering real-time and near-real-time reporting capabilities
• Automating manual treasury and financing processes for operations users
• Creating scenario and “what-if” analysis tools for treasury decision-makers
• Partnering directly with Treasury, Operations, Risk, and Technology stakeholders
• Translating user requirements into robust, production-ready systems
• Tuning SQL and relational database interactions for performance and reliability
• Supporting and iterating on existing treasury and financing platforms

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years of professional software development experience, predominantly in Python
• Hands-on experience with treasury, margin, and/or collateral systems
• Background in a bank, broker-dealer, prime brokerage, buy-side, or trading firm
• Strong SQL and relational database skills, with Oracle and/or SQL Server a plus
• Proven ability to work directly with operations users and stakeholders
• Track record of translating business requirements into production systems
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or equivalent experience

The Experience That Will Really Get Our Attention

You’ve lived in the treasury / financing world: you understand how repos, stock loan, and margin lending actually move through systems, and you’ve shipped Python code that those desks depend on. Capital, RWA, haircuts, currency exposure, or regulatory reporting aren’t buzzwords to you — they’re use cases you’ve built for.

Maybe you’ve done this at a buy-side or proprietary trading firm, where speed and precision both matter. Bonus points if you’ve pushed this domain into the browser with HTML/web UIs, connected into data warehouse or big-data platforms, or rounded out stacks with Java or VBA where it made sense.
