We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Safety & Occupational Health (S&OH) Manager with a strong background in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industries to lead and enhance our site-wide S&OH programs. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned S&OH generalist with proven expertise in S&OH risk assessment, ergonomics, investigations and regulatory compliance. A key focus will be on S&OH operational risk assessments, ergonomics assessments in manufacturing, laboratory, warehouse and office settings. Shift Available: Monday - Friday, Onsite Day Shift, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Responsibilities Develop and execute programs, policies, procedures, and associated training programs as the subject matter expert for operational risk assessments and ergonomics assessments in office, manufacturing, laboratory and warehouse environments. Perform hazard/risk/exposure/ergonomic assessments for current and future process introductions documented in appropriate change management or new material introduction process, working with outside consultation as needed to determine risk mitigation. Support day-to-day activities across the Summit campus, including GMP cell therapy clinical drug substance manufacturing operations, support of Site Engineering & Facilities, Warehouse, and Quality Control laboratories. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, safety, and health laws, regulations, codes, rules, and consensus guides. Develop and implement new EHS programs, policies, and procedures and update and improve existing ones. Provide technical support and oversight in relation to EHS programs and activities on-site. Attend daily, weekly, and/or monthly governance meetings to support operations. This includes Operation huddles, Tier meetings, GEMBA walks, and EHS Committees. Ability to apply EHS regulatory program requirements in a GMP operational setting and coach team members & operation leaders to enable them to successfully deploy and empower ownership of EHS best practices. Accountable for EHS regulatory preparedness and participate in regulatory inspections, self-assessments and audits. Perform incident investigations and develop and implement robust corrective actions. Responsible for utilizing EHS platforms for investigations, inspections, and compliance activities. Strong project management skills and ability to successfully implement cross-functional sitewide projects. Active engagement in EHS training programs and development and delivery of curricula. Key contact for internal customers, building strong relationships with facilities, management, and other cross functional groups and departments. Knowledge & Skills Working knowledge of applicable EHS governing bodies and federal and state regulations (EPA, OSHA, NJDEP, NFPA, etc.). Knowledge, experience and proven track record with the design and execution of EHS programs in a GMP regulated manufacturing setting. Experience and proven track record of effective project management skills. Knowledge and experience with the design and execution of objective risk assessments. Strong Incident Investigation and Corrective Action and Preventative Action skill set. Proficiency in computer-based systems (e.g. Microsoft office, EHS web-based systems). Ability to take initiative and adapt to frequently changing priorities simultaneously and think creatively, critically, and strategically to solve problems in a complex environment with urgency, agility, and calm. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS), preferably within a GMP manufacturing, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or R&D environment. Minimum of five (5) years of broad EHS experience with a strong foundation in occupational safety and industrial hygiene principles. Minimum of three (3) years of experience conducting facility and laboratory audits. Minimum of two (2) years of experience performing ergonomic assessments and implementing corrective actions. Experience interfacing with regulatory agencies, inspectors, and external auditors. Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) are preferred. #BMSCART, #LI-Onsite Compensation Overview Summit West - NJ - US: $91,562 - $110,952 The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. All global employees full and part-time who are actively employed at and paid directly by BMS at the end of the calendar year are eligible to take advantage of the Global Shutdown. *Eligibility Disclosure: The summer hours program is for United States (U.S.) office-based employees due to the unique nature of their work. Summer hours are generally not available for field sales and manufacturing operations and may also be limited for the capability centers. Employees in remote-by-design or lab-based roles may be eligible for summer hours, depending on the nature of their work, and should discuss eligibility with their manager.
