SMS is currently hiring for a full-time assistant to work with elementary students!

Your Role as an Elementary Assistant

As our Elementary Classroom Assistant, you'll help create a peaceful, engaging learning environment where children develop independence, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning. Working alongside an experienced Montessori Guide, you'll support students in their daily discoveries while growing your own skills as an educator. Successful team members:

• Are dependable and consistent in their ability to be physically and mentally present for the children
• Take responsibility for being proactive in problem-solving, caring for the environment, and building relationships

• Establish and enforce rules and boundaries of behavior for children in their classrooms. We have a very structured classroom environment.
• Be professional and mature in appearance and attitude
• Help children use resources and explore during learning and play activities using the Montessori method of learning
• Help with homework and after-school care

Expectations:

• Monday-Friday
• 40 hrs/week
• Ability to be on your feet
• Ability to lift and move
• Ability to conduct chores apart from child care (cleaning, etc.)
• Willingness to engage with young children and other staff members

Requirements:

• Ages 18 or older
• High school diploma
• CPR and first aid certified or willing to be certified
• Experience with children (preferred)
• Bachelor's degree (preferred)
• We conduct random drug testing

Please note: Employees who are made an offer of employment will be required to pass a post-offer pre-employment background process that includes passing a basic TB and fingerprint test, and completing an online training program. Applicants who do not pass or participate in any of this pre-employment process will have their offer of employment rescinded.
