Acclaim Multi‑Specialty Group (Acclaim) is a multi‑specialty medical group practice that partners with JPS Health Network (JPS) to provide high‑quality, compassionate care to the communities it serves. The group works in a range of settings from primary care to pediatrics, and through 18 residency and fellowship programs in partnership with local universities. Job Title Advanced Practice Provider – Cardiothoracic Surgery (PRN) Requisition Number req29587 Location John Peter Smith Hospital, Fort Worth, Texas Job Description As an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) on a PRN basis, you will act as a key member of the cardiothoracic team, collaborating closely with surgeons to deliver patient care across inpatient and outpatient settings. Duties include first‑assist in the operating room, ICU and floor rounding, office coverage for pre‑operative and post‑operative follow‑ups, and primary care of cardiothoracic patients. You will also participate in the call schedule, attend quality‑improvement meetings, maintain licensure, and perform any additional duties as assigned. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Collate and coordinate multidisciplinary care for cardiothoracic patients, both inpatient and outpatient, to optimise quality outcomes. Provide operating‑room coverage as first assist, including endoscopic vein harvest and radial artery harvest. Perform ICU rounding and coverage. Conduct floor rounding, consults, and discharge planning. Cover office/clinic pre‑operative consults and postoperative follow‑ups. Offer primary care for all cardiothoracic patients, including assessment, evaluation, diagnosis, and development of treatment plans. Notify attending physician per the Collaborative Practice Agreement. Monitor guideline compliance for patient management per JPS Health Network and Acclaim physician group standards. Participate in the cardiothoracic call schedule on an as‑needed PRN basis. Assist in elective, urgent, and emergent adult cardiac and thoracic surgery, including CABG, valve replacement, aortic dissection, robotic lung surgery, lobectomy, and decortication. Attend quality‑improvement and team meetings as instructed. Maintain own licensing and credentialing, including required certifications. Perform additional job‑related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education & Training: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program OR Adult‑Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) with RNFA certification. Licensure & Certification: Current unrestricted licensure to practice as required by the State of Texas. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (obtainable within 60 days of hire). Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (obtainable within 60 days of hire). Completion of unit‑specific competency‑based orientation program within 90 days of hire. Experience: 5+ years of cardiothoracic surgery OR experience as an advanced practice provider with first‑assist in the OR preferred. Proficiency or willingness to develop skills in intra‑aortic balloon pump insertion/removal, pacer management, endoscopic saphenous vein harvesting, Swan‑Ganz insertion and removal, radial artery harvest, and chest tube placement preferred. Skills & Competencies: Knowledge of advanced cardiothoracic surgical techniques and care management within the specialty area. Customer‑service principles understanding. Safety and security principles understanding. HIPAA regulations knowledge. Ability to solve complex clinical problems and make critical decisions under pressure. Data‑analysis, conclusion‑drawing, and recommendation skills. Computer and electronic documentation proficiency. Prioritization and time‑management skills.
