Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and professional individual to join our surgical team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers, aligning with our service excellence standards and core values. Key responsibilities include:

• Exhibiting flexibility, punctuality, and a willingness to learn in a surgical environment.
• Working under the supervision of a surgeon to ensure safe and effective surgical procedures, contributing to patient safety in the operating room.
• Ensuring OR rooms, supplies, and equipment are available and ready to enhance perioperative processes.
• Responsible for preparing sterile instruments, sutures, and equipment, possessing a working knowledge of each device.
• Assisting with patient positioning and preparation consistent with department standards and hospital policies.
• Performing instrument, sharps, and sponge counts with the circulating nurse, as well as additional counts as required.
• Assisting in draping the patient and establishing a sterile field.
• Participating in surgical site and patient verification during time-out procedures.
• Maintaining the sterile field to ensure safety for patients and staff by adhering to the highest standards of sterile technique.
• Preparing and passing off specimens as appropriate.
• Assisting in lifting, turning, positioning, and preparing patients for surgical procedures using correct body mechanics.
• Contributing to a clean and safe working environment.
• Cleaning and preparing instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Supporting other team members with terminal cleaning of the OR room.
• Utilizing standard precautions and appropriate personal protective equipment when handling hazardous materials, including blood and body fluids.
• Demonstrating competency in operating room procedures, which includes emergency management, infection control, and communication procedures.

Requirements:

Candidates must be certified by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). Experience in cardiovascular and vascular surgical procedures is highly desirable.

This position includes weekday hours with weekend on-call responsibilities.
