If you'd like the chance to make your mark with the world's largest equipment rental provider, come build your future with United Rentals!The Fleet Technician II independently performs intermediate refurbishment and repair tasks on mobile storage equipment such as containers, ground-level offices, and mobile/modular offices, including structural, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work, while informally coaching other technicians on general tasks. The incumbent has the ability to perform general repairs, cleaning, preparation, and operational tasks. This role may include such other responsibilities and duties as assigned from time to time, based upon company needs.What you'll do:Perform intermediate refurbishment and repair across structural, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, following standard procedures and work orders.Perform intermediate refurb work: floor decking replacement, general structural work per standard proceduresComplete general electrical, plumbing, and HVAC tasks with minimal direct supervisionRemove, repair, and install floors, tiles, roofs, walls, frames, doors, windows, screens, caulking, painting, filter, replacing trim, and other intermediate repair and maintenance, swapping wheels, tires, and axles, and other repetitive repairsComplete assignments as documented on work orders within established timeframesDocument work completed and materials used on work orders using the required mobile applicationsRemove and install decals and equipment numbersComplete equipment inspections, documentation, and modifications in line with company procedures and standardsComplete inspections following Rental Flow procedures utilizing work orders and required mobile applicationsTag equipment according to company standardsReport equipment condition, damage, or maintenance needs requiring advanced repairComplete equipment modifications in accordance with manufacturer specifications and approved specificationsPerform service calls and field work independently for routine tasks, ensuring clear communication and accurate field documentation.Perform straightforward service calls independently with guidance for complex tasks or situationsHandle routine customer interaction, explaining work and confirming completionTravel to customer sites to set up mobile/modular offices and assist CDL A Drivers when neededComplete necessary field documentation and reportingMaintain a safe, organized shop and yard while informally coaching other technicians and supporting operations as needed.Follow Mobile Storage and United Rentals 5S guidelinesMaintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and suppliesUse appropriate PPE and operate tools safelyParticipate in Safety Huddles and report safety observationsStore tools, supplies, and Workplace Ready Solutions in a proper and secure placeInformally coach and train other technicians on basic tasksOperate forklift and material handling equipment safelyShow and exhibit fleet to customers when neededInstall/uninstall Workplace Ready Solutions according to specificationsRequirements:High School diploma or equivalent3-5 years of experience with general electrical, plumbing, and/or welding repairs or demonstrated competencyConstruction knowledge and background preferredEntry-level position with general construction, maintenance, or mechanical experience preferredGeneral mechanical aptitude and advanced tool knowledgeAbility to read and follow work instructions and technical specificationsStrong attention to detail for quality repairs and customer interactionValid state driver's license with acceptable driving recordVerbal and written communication skillsTeamwork and customer service skillsDemonstrated time management skillsAbility to utilize required information technologyWorking knowledge of heavy equipment, tools, and the manufacturer's warranty processAccurately record time and materials used for proper work order completionAbility to coach and mentor other operations staffThis position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals' policies and procedures.Why Join Us?We don't just "talk the talk!"
