About the Position

Job Title: Respiratory Therapist - NICU Profession: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Specialty: RRT-NICU Duration: 13 weeks or 26 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year in Level 4 NICU with preferred experience in cardiac PICU License: Virginia state license required (pending licenses accepted) Certifications: RRT, BLS, NRP required Must-Have: Level 4 NICU experience Cardiac PICU experience preferred Ability to work every other weekend and every other holiday Willingness to work 2 out of the 3 winter holidays Competency in using Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A Description: This position involves providing respiratory care for patients in the NICU, PICU, high-risk deliveries, and acute care pediatrics. The respiratory therapist will work within a multidisciplinary team. Strong communication and critical thinking skills are essential. The therapist should be comfortable caring for neonates, infants, children, and adolescents. Responsibilities include assisting in high-risk deliveries, performing aerosol setups, and managing tracheostomy care. The therapist will be required to work in all units as needed and must float within their scope of practice. Experience with advanced respiratory equipment and techniques is necessary to provide optimal patient care. Additional responsibilities include interpreting arterial blood gases and performing intubation assistance. Candidates must be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment that prioritizes patient-centered care. The role requires adaptability and a commitment to ongoing professional development in pediatric respiratory care.
