School Psychologist $7,500 Yearly Stipend included Position Overview Under supervision of the Director of Educational Resources, the School Psychologist will serve in a leadership role to integrate services to best meet the needs of students, families, and the school community. The School Psychologist will provide a comprehensive range of direct and indirect services which align with the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) Practice Model Domains, ensuring implementation of district policies, special education regulations, and Delaware Administrative Code. Training Appoquinimink School District may require you to be trained in Safety‑Care or a similar competency‑based crisis prevention intervention training program as a condition of continued employment. Compliance – Licensure / Certification / Permit Failure to meet or maintain any of the licensing or certification Minimum Qualifications listed below may result in withdrawal of the job offer prior to employment or termination if already hired. The district reserves the right to assess compliance at any time. Deficiencies may lead to disciplinary action up to dismissal. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Utilize data‑based decision making: apply data to Functional Behavioral Assessment and Positive Behavior Support Plan processes; conduct comprehensive psychoeducational assessments; identify strengths and needs of individuals and systems; develop interventions, services, and programs; measure progress within MTSS. Engage in consultation and collaboration: with individuals, families, groups, and systems; demonstrate consulting and communication skills; fully participate in IEP process. Academic Interventions and Instructional Supports: use assessment and data to implement and evaluate services supporting academic skill development; take a whole‑child approach; collaborate to write measurable IEP goals. Mental and Behavioral Health Services and Interventions: design, implement, and evaluate services that promote resilience and positive behavior; support social‑emotional learning, adaptive skills, and overall mental health. School‑Wide Practices to Promote Learning: develop and implement practices for safe, effective, supportive learning environments; cultivate a culture of care and student connection. Services to Promote Safe and Supportive Schools: promote preventive and responsive services, crisis prevention and response, and facilitate Manifestation Determination IEP meetings. Family, School, and Community Collaboration: facilitate partnerships with families and community agencies; support community schools approach. Equitable Practices for Diverse Student Populations: knowledge of individual differences; implement evidence‑based strategies for both general and special education; advocate for social justice. Research and Evidence‑Based Practice: evaluate and apply research for service delivery; use data collection technologies to support practices at individual and system levels. Legal, Ethical, and Professional Practice: provide services consistent with ethical, legal, and professional standards; engage in ethical decision‑making; demonstrate interpersonal, organizational, and advocacy skills; perform duties assigned by Principal or Director. Minimum Qualifications Eligible for State of Delaware Certification as a School Psychologist. Knowledge of best practices in special education. Thorough knowledge of IDEA/504 and the IEP process. Ability to interpret psychometric measures and behavioral observation scales, and monitor student progress through data collection. Proficiency in conducting Functional Behavior Assessments and Positive Behavior Support Plans. Excellent organizational, communication, and computer skills. Completed criminal background check and Tuberculin testing. Minimum Qualifications for International Applicants Preferred: Transcripts translated prior to submission. Physical Requirements Regular speaking, occasionally lifting up to 25 lbs, frequent sitting. Must possess normal cognitive abilities and be able to learn, recall, and apply practices and policies. Physical and Environmental Conditions Work is performed in a school environment and may require movement around classrooms. Pre‑Employment Requirements Criminal background check and tuberculosis test.
