Adjunct Lecturer – Biotechnology Enterprises: Finance & Operations College of Business, Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, NY. Overview Part‑time, non‑tenure track lecturer position to teach Biotechnology Enterprises – Finance & Operations during the Fall 2026 semester. The course is a core component of the Advanced Graduate Certificate in Life Science Innovation and Entrepreneurship and focuses on the financial and operational challenges of growing science‑based technology companies, especially in biotechnology. The instructor will collaborate closely with the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the New York State Center for Biotechnology to ensure that the curriculum aligns with the certificate’s objectives and the industry’s evolving needs. Responsibilities Design, deliver, and facilitate engaging lectures and class discussions on biotechnology enterprise finance and operations. Develop, update, and maintain course materials, syllabi, and assessments to reflect current industry practices and research. Teach concepts such as business planning, financial modeling, valuation, and human‑capital development for biotechnology ventures. Provide one‑on‑one mentoring to students to support academic and professional growth. Integrate real‑world examples, case studies, and current industry trends into the curriculum. Promote critical thinking, problem‑solving, and innovative approaches in the classroom. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and, when time permits, on scholarly research projects. Conduct scholarly activities, including research, publications, and conference presentations, if time allows. Qualifications – Required Unrestricted employment authorization for the United States. Master’s degree or higher in a discipline relevant to life sciences or business/entrepreneurship. Demonstrated, diverse expertise within the biotechnology and life‑science industry, including entrepreneurship, financing, value creation, operations, project management, and leadership. Undergraduate and/or graduate teaching experience. Strong communication and presentation skills. Analytical and quantitative skills relevant to cash flow analysis and enterprise valuation. Qualifications – Preferred PhD, JD, or MD in a discipline relevant to life sciences or business/entrepreneurship. Professional experience in teaching, translational research/technology development, investment, or academic settings, including grant writing and knowledge of biomedical product development and company formation.
