Training Specialist

Job Summary The Apparatus Specialist, Field Trainer & Delivery Coordinator serves as a regional subject matter expert on high-performance fire apparatus, operation, and equipment configuration. While Firematic Supply Co. is headquartered in East Yaphank, NY, this position is permanently based out of the Patterson, NY regional shop. In this role, you will serve as the premier field instructor across Long Island, Connecticut, and Southeast New York, training municipal and volunteer departments on Pierce aerial devices, platform baskets, and tower ladders. When not in the field, you will work directly with customers at the Patterson facility to optimize equipment mounting solutions, coordinate logistics, and provide critical support to regional sales and service teams. Key Responsibilities Regional Field Training & Aerial Operations Tri-State Territory Training: Lead comprehensive delivery and operational training for fire departments receiving new Pierce apparatus across Long Island, Connecticut, and Southeast New York. Safety & Tactics: Conduct hands-on field instruction focusing on safe stabilizing/outrigger deployment, multiplex system overrides, high-wind/low-temperature operation, and bucket leveling. Advanced Mechanics: Educate department chauffeurs and operators on electronic hydraulic control systems, computer cushioning systems, and emergency bedding procedures. Relationship Management: Act as the primary, trusted field face of Firematic on training grounds throughout the tri-state region. Apparatus Tool Mounting & Consulting (Patterson Base) Customer Consultations: Work side-by-side with fire department truck committees at the Patterson shop to evaluate their inventory of rescue tools (such as Hurst tools), saws, fans, and hand tools. Compartment Optimization: Guide clients through strategic placement decisions to optimize restricted compartment spaces—recommending toolboards, pull-out trays, custom brackets, and dedicated tool mounts. Retrofits & New Builds: Coordinate directly with Patterson shop fabricators to design secure, heavy-duty mounting layouts for both newly arriving apparatus and older vehicles undergoing equipment upgrades. Quality Assurance: Ensure all custom mountings meet strict safety, weight distribution, and quick-deployment emergency standards. Delivery Logistics & Cross-Department Support Apparatus Logistics: Assist personnel with the safe transport, pickup, and over-the-road delivery of new or serviced fire apparatus between regional shops, manufacturers, and client fire stations. Sales Support: Partner with regional apparatus sales representatives during final inspections, customer walk-throughs, and official vehicle handoffs to answer technical operational questions. Service Liaison: Support Patterson shop service advisors and technicians by troubleshooting apparatus issues post-delivery or relaying customer operational feedback to the maintenance team. #J-18808-Ljbffr
