Employment Opportunities The following is a listing of various job openings that are currently available. The City of Berry Hill is accepting applications for the position of City Manager. Located in the heart of Nashville, Berry Hill is a small, dynamic municipality with a strong business community and a unique identity. The City Manager is responsible for the day to day administration and operation of municipal government. The City Manager works closely with the Board of Commissioners to implement the policies, priorities, ordinances, and strategic direction established by the governing body. Berry Hill is seeking an experienced, highly engaged, collaborative, and hands on municipal leader who is comfortable wearing multiple hats. The successful candidate will combine strong day to day management skills with the ability to think strategically about the City’s future. Key areas of emphasis include fiscal management, staff leadership, infrastructure and capital projects, economic and community development, zoning and land use, grants, regulatory compliance, and responsive service to residents and businesses. The City Manager is responsible for oversight of City departments, employees, municipal services, contracts, and the City’s annual operating budget. The position also plays an important role in coordinating public works and infrastructure projects, administering grants, overseeing procurement and contracts, supporting planning and zoning functions, and maintaining compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements. The Successful Candidate Will; Be an accessible and visible leader who develops strong relationships with residents, businesses, employees, elected officials, and community partners. Demonstrate sound judgment and a strong ethical compass while operating effectively in a public and political environment. Possess strong financial management skills, including budgeting, financial analysis, forecasting, purchasing, procurement, and contract administration. Effectively lead, supervise, develop, and retain City employees while fostering accountability, collaboration, and excellent customer service. Have experience coordinating infrastructure maintenance, capital improvement projects, contractors, consultants, and other municipal service providers. Understand municipal planning, zoning, land use, development, and redevelopment and be comfortable working with residents, developers, builders, businesses, and appointed boards and commissions. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and prepare clear reports, recommendations, agendas, and supporting materials for the Board of Commissioners. Be willing and able to take direct ownership of issues when necessary. As a small municipality, Berry Hill requires a City Manager who is equally comfortable developing long term strategy and addressing the practical day to day needs of City government. Be organized and attentive to detail while identifying opportunities to improve City processes, technology, efficiency, and service delivery. Education and Experience The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred. Candidates should have progressively responsible experience in municipal government, preferably including service as a City Manager, Assistant City Manager, department head, or other senior municipal administrator. An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant municipal management experience may be considered. Preferred Zoning and Land Use Qualifications Experience with municipal zoning, planning, and land use administration is strongly preferred. This may include experience serving as a Zoning Administrator or performing comparable responsibilities The City offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
