JPS Health Network is a county health network and Level‑1 Trauma Center that serves the residents of Tarrant County for over 100 years and operates as an urban teaching hospital with 18 residency and fellowship programs, including the largest family medicine residency in the nation. JPS collaborates with the University of North Texas Health Science Center, Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Burnett School of Medicine at TCU. Job Title Psychologist – Inpatient Location Trinity Springs Pavilion for Psychiatric Services 1500 S. Main Street Fort Worth, Texas, 76104 Job Summary The Inpatient Psychologist assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients with behavioral, psychiatric, or cognitive disorders. The role provides a broad range of comprehensive psychological services—including assessments, evaluations, and psychoeducation—addressing complex psychiatric disorders and comorbid medical conditions. The psychologist works primarily in inpatient psychiatric units and may support psychologists on inpatient medical units through consults or brief assessments as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Independently conducts a wide range of psychological services on JPS’s inpatient psychiatric units and in the main hospital, including assessment of emotional, psychological, and behavioral concerns. Works in consultation with interdisciplinary team members to facilitate accurate diagnosis, patient education, and treatment planning. Consults with patient care teams to develop tailored treatment plans that meet the specific needs of the patient. Provides screening for cognitive deficits to address functional questions or determine if a complete psychological evaluation is needed after psychiatric and medical stabilization, and makes referrals to appropriate services. Performs assessments to support decision‑making when there are questions about a patient’s ability to make medical decisions, perform specific functions, or live independently, and provides recommendations to interdisciplinary clinical teams. Provides clinical supervision of psychology interns, practicum students, and psychiatry residents. Provides didactics for psychology interns and practicum students, psychiatry residents, faculty, and other medical professionals. Consults with physicians and staff on a wide variety of patient care issues. Assists in developing individualized care plans as necessary and appropriate. Monitors patient progress and adjusts treatment plans as appropriate when requested by the care team. Provides brief interventions to psychiatrically ill patients when required. Monitors guidelines for the management of care and ensures services are delivered in compliance with the guidelines established by JPS Health Network and Acclaim Health. Provides evidence‑based and compassionate care to all patients, contributing to successful outcomes and maintaining high patient satisfaction scores. Maintains a collaborative environment with other referring physicians, residents, clinical staff, and support staff to provide quality patient care. Supports academic, educational, and research endeavors within JPS’s Behavioral Health Service. Attends performance improvement programs and peer review committee meetings as requested and actively participates when needed. Partners with the Psychological Division to build a positive brand and patient/customer experience for all who encounter JPS Health Network. Serves as a resource to the community. Performs other job‑related duties as assigned. Position‑Specific Details Provider Schedule: Monday–Friday Call Schedule: No Qualifications PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology Doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) at the time of completion, or a doctoral degree in any area of psychology with successful completion of a respecialization program meeting the following conditions: (a) the specialization program was completed in an APA‑ or APPIC‑accredited doctoral‑level clinical psychology training program; and (b) the specialty retraining was consistent with the training needed for an inpatient assessment psychologist and included a dissertation primarily of a psychological nature. Internship Requirement: successful completion of a clinical or counseling psychology internship accredited by APA or APPIC at the time of completion. Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training: candidates must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in Texas, or be eligible for Texas Board licensure as outlined by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council.
