Job Summary The Market Leader is a hands‑on, multi‑unit leadership role responsible for leading a market of 5 Whataburger restaurants. This position drives operational excellence, coaches and develops Operating Partners (General Managers) and their teams, ensures brand standards are upheld, and achieves key business objectives including sales growth, profitability, guest experience, and people development. The Market Leader acts as a key connector between restaurant‑level operations and higher‑level franchise leadership. Key Responsibilities Operations & Brand Execution Lead daily and weekly operations across the market to ensure consistent adherence to Whataburger standards for food quality, speed of service, cleanliness, and hospitality. Conduct regular restaurant visits and audits focusing on customer satisfaction, food safety, product quality and availability, cleanliness, cash handling, scheduling, and uniform compliance. Execute brand initiatives, new product rollouts, and weekly operational priorities. Oversee food safety, health department compliance, and all safety protocols. Business Performance Assist in developing and executing the market business plan, including budgeting, forecasting, and sales‑building strategies. Monitor and drive key metrics: sales, labor costs, food costs, operating expenses, and profitability. Analyze performance data and implement action plans to address gaps and capitalize on opportunities. Support marketing execution and local store marketing efforts. Recruit, coach, develop, and retain high‑performing Operating Partners and restaurant teams. Foster a positive, high‑energy culture aligned with Whataburger values. Conduct training, performance reviews, succession planning, and leadership development. Promote employee engagement, recognition, and career growth opportunities. Strategic & Community Focus Support new restaurant openings, remodels, and market growth initiatives. Build strong community relations and represent the brand positively in the local market. Collaborate with franchise leadership, Whataburger corporate partners, and vendors. Drive continuous improvement and operational innovation. Qualifications & Requirements Experience Minimum 4–7 years of progressive restaurant leadership experience, with at least 2–3 years in multi‑unit (district/area manager) roles in QSR or fast‑casual environments (Whataburger or similar concepts strongly preferred). Proven success leading 4+ restaurants and driving sales, operational, and financial results. Education & Skills High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality, or related field preferred. Strong understanding of P&L management, budgeting, and restaurant metrics. Excellent coaching, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficient in restaurant systems (POS, scheduling, inventory) and Microsoft Office. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
