Senior HR Generalist

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior HR Generalist to provide hands-on HR support within a large, multi-shift manufacturing operation in the Grand Rapids area. This is a highly visible plant-floor HR role supporting both hourly and salaried employees while partnering closely with supervisors, plant leadership, and the HR Manager.

The ideal candidate brings a strong manufacturing HR background and is comfortable independently handling employee relations issues, investigations, leave administration, recruiting, compliance, and the day-to-day challenges that come with supporting a fast-paced production environment.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as a key HR resource for hourly and salaried employees across a multi-shift manufacturing operation
• Handle employee relations matters including investigations, workplace concerns, policy violations, corrective actions, performance issues, and terminations
• Coach supervisors through disciplinary situations, performance conversations, documentation, and other employee-related challenges
• Administer FMLA, ADA accommodations, short-term disability, and other employee leave programs
• Coordinate workers' compensation cases, work restrictions, and return-to-work activities with operations and safety teams
• Support high-volume recruiting for production and manufacturing positions, including hiring activities needed to maintain plant staffing levels
• Manage attendance administration, employee notifications, documentation, and escalation
• Maintain accurate employee records, HRIS transactions, personnel files, and audit-ready documentation
• Support I-9 requirements and other federal and state employment compliance activities
• Partner with HR and plant leadership on employee communications, policy interpretation, engagement, and workforce concerns
• Provide backup support for timekeeping, attendance, and related payroll activities as needed
• Maintain an active presence within the plant and provide support across shifts when employee relations matters require it

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of well-rounded HR Generalist experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• 2+ years of recruiting experience , ideally supporting high-volume manufacturing or gained through a staffing/recruiting firm focused on manufacturing
• Strong hands-on experience with employee relations, investigations, corrective actions, and performance management
• Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA/accommodations, workers' compensation, and employment law
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
• Ability to independently manage sensitive employee situations with sound judgment and discretion
• Strong communication, documentation, organization, and problem-solving skills

Candidates may currently hold titles such as Senior HR Generalist, HR Generalist, Plant HR Generalist, HR Business Partner, Employee Relations Generalist, Human Resources Specialist, or similar manufacturing HR positions.
