Director of Operations & Maintenance (O&M) - Solar & BESS Amica Talent is supporting an established renewable energy business with a confidential search for a Director of Operations & Maintenance to lead and develop a growing portfolio of utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage assets. This is not a steady-state O&M position. The business has ambitious growth plans and needs an experienced leader who can bring greater structure, technical depth and consistency across the organization. You’ll have the opportunity to shape the operating model, strengthen the leadership structure and build the systems required to scale a major third-party renewable energy services platform. The opportunity You’ll lead a large, geographically distributed organization of field technicians and project management professionals responsible for the safe, reliable and commercially successful operation of renewable energy assets across the United States. Your mandate will include: Establishing the procedures, operating standards and organizational structure required to scale the O&M business. Leading and developing a multidisciplinary team across field operations, maintenance, project management, supply chain and HSE. Building robust workforce, recruitment and development plans for field technicians. Improving operational discipline, accountability, reporting and consistency across the portfolio. Driving asset performance across availability, yield, reliability, safety, cost and contractual compliance. Implementing predictive maintenance, condition monitoring and digital O&M practices. Overseeing O&M budgets, cost optimization and long-term asset lifecycle planning. Managing OEM relationships, warranties, LTSAs, service agreements and performance guarantees. Acting as a senior point of contact for asset owners and third-party clients. Supporting proposals, contract negotiations, due diligence and the transition of new projects from construction into operations. Helping expand the company’s external O&M services business. Who we’re looking for This role requires someone who has already built, transformed or significantly improved a renewable O&M organization. It is not intended as a first step into senior operational leadership. You’ll bring: 10+ years of renewable energy O&M experience. Strong technical knowledge of utility-scale solar PV, with BESS experience highly desirable. 5+ years leading multi-site or regional O&M operations. Experience managing large, distributed teams of technicians and operational leaders. A track record of implementing procedures, organizational structures, workforce plans and performance-management systems. Experience improving underperforming or rapidly growing operations. Strong client-facing capability, including experience working with third-party asset owners. Commercial awareness across budgets, service contracts, SLAs, warranties, LTSAs and performance guarantees. The ability to move comfortably between technical detail, operational strategy and executive-level client discussions. A Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Energy Engineering or a related discipline.
