Maintenance & Safety Technician Supervisor

Pay Range: $29.76/hr-$38.39/hr.

Essential Functions:

• Performs basic maintenance of Sheridan Recovery facilities and equipment; including but not limited to; minor building and equipment repairs, collects and deposits cardboard, change lightbulbs, moves and assembles office furniture, etc.
• Inspects and reviews work in assigned areas to ensure that cleanliness, efficiencies, safety standards, and completion is met.
• Schedules various building maintenance, repair and construction tasks; estimates, writes specifications for, and oversees construction projects that are handled by the Maintenance Department for the Tribe.
• Schedules routine and preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles; obtains outside estimates for major repairs and writes specifications for replacement of obsolete equipment.
• Uses a computerized maintenance management system to maintain appropriate records related to maintenance repair activities, preventive maintenance programs, budgeting and scheduling.
• Maintains facilities keying, locks, electronic security systems, and alarms, and reports any security breaches or other problems to supervisor.
• Coordinates all equipment installation including, shelving units, medical devices, wall hangings, sign installation throughout the facility.
• Schedules appropriate furniture and equipment set up for Tribal meeting.
• Establishes and maintains relationship with vendors and purchases maintenance supplies and equipment, avoiding any conflicts of interest.
• Identifies existing or potential facility deficiencies and takes appropriate action to correct them.
• Follows established practices and procedures outlined by tribal policies, operational plan, and preventative and maintenance management program.
• Conducts safety and preventative maintenance inspections of the Tribes buildings and systems for all Tribal facilities.
• Checks heating and cooling systems for proper operating condition and reports any service needs.
• Operates necessary machinery and equipment including hand tools.
• Checks fire extinguishers and smoke detectors for proper operating condition and schedules outside company to recharge and service annually.
• Responds to false alarms (e.g. pulled fire alarms) during business hours.
• Coordinates services with cleaning and cleaning supplier vendors. Monitors cleaning supplies needed for facilities and maintains stock of supplies.
• Provides cleaning duties during down times to ensure testing bathrooms are kept tidy and front lobby is free of debris to include bodily fluid spills. Walks through the front entrance of the clinic daily to ensure clients are keeping the site clean.
• Trains staff in the proper use of cleaning equipment, chemicals, methodology and techniques.
• Responsible for identifying and safely disposing of any syringes or other paraphernalia and garbage found in the facilities or surrounding clinic grounds.
• Monitors all patient facing areas and looks for any diversion or loitering activities. Identifies any potential crisis situations and informs the appropriate staff.
• Acts as a positive role-model to individuals being served.
• Keeps client traffic moving effectively and safely through the main clinic area.
• Develops rapport with clients and answer questions regarding facilities functions. Informs and reminds clients of site rules.
• Supports Trauma Informed Care perspective. Understands the effects of trauma, coping, and other aspects of the lives of those served in the recovery environment.
• Escorts visitors to the facility and provides tours as needed.
• Attends debrief meetings on any client safety or threat issues, contributes to and identifies solutions with multidisciplinary recovery team.
• Serves as member of Safety Committee. Ensures safety protocols are followed and conducts practice drills for staff.
• Assists with transporting client to various appointments.
• Performs delivery and pick up items for the needs of the facilities from Tribal campus as requested by supervisor.
• Assists with performing rapid dip UA testing and documents results.
• Provides back-up support for front desk as needed. Assists with obtaining patient signatures, client check-ins, visitor sign-ins, accessing kiosk, etc.
• Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Supervisory:

• Ensures the hiring, training, promoting, assigning, disciplining and discharging of employees are in accordance with Tribal Law, including without limitation, the Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO).
• Assures staff adherence to all policies and procedures, work, safety and administrative rule, Tribal Law and State Regulations.
• Serves as a mentor, as requested, for Tribal career development

Education, Experience, and Licenses:

• Requires a High School diploma or GED equivalency. Associates degree in related subject preferred.
• Requires a minimum of three (3) years of facilities maintenance experience. Specialized experience carpentry and basic plumbing preferred.
• Requires one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience.
• OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Driving Requirements:

• Employees may be required to drive for work-related purposes and must maintain a valid Oregon Driver's License (ODL), meet company vehicle insurance requirements, and provide proof of personal vehicle insurance.

Qualifications, Registrations, and Certifications:

• If a recovering chemically dependent person must be in a program of recovery and able to provide documentation of sobriety for a minimum of two years.
• Must have the ability to operate a variety of equipment and power tools safely.
• Must have knowledge in areas of plumbing, electrical, carpentry and locksmith trades in order to direct and perform preventive and demand maintenance of buildings, building systems, equipment, grounds, utilities, and security hardware.
• Must have knowledge of effective oral and written communication skills sufficient to direct others in maintenance procedures and to present project information including reports, scopes of work, cost estimates, and maintenance contracts.
• Must have knowledge of OSHA regulations including hazardous chemical safety requirements.
• Must have knowledge and understanding of active ingredients, uses, application and hazards of chemical used in the department.
• Must have knowledge of housekeeping requirements dealing with blood borne pathogens.
• Proven ability to work independently and interpret policies and procedures, under pressure with little or no supervision.
• Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
• Ability to work with all levels of individuals, including disgruntled people in an effective manner.
• Ability to demonstrate boundaries and concise clear communication skills.
• Follows and enforces all safety and security protocols.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft products.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment (i.e. copier, fax machine, personal computer).
• Excellent interpersonal skills oral and written.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality in all matters. Knowledge of ethical and legal requirements and restrictions pertaining to the maintenance of medical records, as well as facility policies, HIPAA and other federal regulations.
• Requires strong commitment to accurately completing task, solving problems, demonstrating initiative, organization, and attention to detail.
• Ability to compile written reports; read and interpret various documents; and obtain the cooperation of Tribal programs.
• Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American culture required.

Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:

• Continually requires the ability to express or receive detailed information or important instructions through oral communication.
• Continually requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm. Requires repetitive movement of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
• Requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time, raising objects from a lower to a higher position and/or moving objects horizontally.
• Often requires gripping tools and operating tools and light machinery.
• Often requires lifting of up to 75 pounds, occasionally more.
• Occasionally works ten hours or longer a day, nights and weekends.
• Must be on call 24 hours to respond to any security problems or fire alarms.
• The worker is frequently subject to inside and outside environmental conditions which may or may not provide protection from weather conditions.
