Senior Test Engineer

Senior Test EngineerWe are seeking an experienced Senior Test Engineer to support the production introduction and ongoing manufacturing of complex electronic assemblies within the aerospace, aviation, and defense industry.This role will work closely with Quality, Manufacturing, Design Engineering, and Production Test teams to develop, integrate, troubleshoot, and improve automated and semi-automated test systems. The engineer will take a leading role in transitioning electronic designs and associated test solutions from development into production and supporting their eventual transfer to external manufacturing partners.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute transition plans for electronic products moving from engineering development into manufacturing and the supply chain.Lead resolution of test equipment, electrical interface, and production test issues.Design and develop test systems for circuit card assemblies and electronic equipment.Create hardware designs including interface circuitry, wiring diagrams, power distribution, switch matrices, data acquisition systems, rack documentation, and integration of commercial test equipment.Develop and maintain test software using tools such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, Python, C, C, and C#.Design cables, schematics, and related mechanical interfaces for test equipment.Integrate equipment such as signal generators, digital multimeters, power supplies, computers, and other commercial instrumentation.Build, verify, qualify, and accept new test equipment.Troubleshoot, maintain, and provide ongoing technical support for production test systems.Support supplier training and provide technical requirements and guidance for externally developed test equipment.Transition test equipment and supporting processes to internal manufacturing operations or subcontractor facilities.Improve test equipment and software to increase manufacturing efficiency and reduce test cycle times.Lead and support cross-site New Product Introduction activities involving engineering and production test.Investigate complex electronic assembly issues and drive technical problem-solving efforts.Work with Quality, Manufacturing, and Test organizations to identify root causes and support Root Cause Corrective Action activities.Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to other engineers and team members.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.Typically 10 years of relevant engineering experience with strong demonstrated technical expertise.Significant experience troubleshooting electronic hardware and software assemblies.Ability to lead technical activities, coach others, and work effectively within cross-functional teams.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio, and Notepad.Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.Ability to work with U.S. export-controlled information.Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Electrical Engineering with approximately 6 years of relevant experience.Advanced experience with National Instruments LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI.Programming experience with Python, C, C, and/or C# using Microsoft Visual Studio.Experience with circuit card development tools such as Cadence OrCAD and Allegro.Experience with microprocessor development using C and assembly language.Experience developing and supporting production test systems for complex electronic products.Key Skills RequiredElectronic hardware and software troubleshootingTest equipment design and developmentLabVIEW / LabWindows-CVI programmingPython, C, C, or C# programmingRoot cause analysis and corrective actionCircuit card and electronic assembly testingCross-functional technical leadershipWork Environment & Additional DetailsOnsite work in Buffalo, NY.Occasional travel may be required.No security clearance is required.Access to U.S. export-controlled information is required.Full benefits are available.Interview travel reimbursement is available.Overtime is not eligible.No commission compensation.No bonus eligibility.Why This Location?Buffalo offers access to Lake Erie, nearby outdoor recreation, a growing food and dining scene, professional and collegiate sports, museums, performing arts, and a range of cultural attractions.
