PRN Radiologic Technologist CTTownsen Memorial Hospital is looking for a PRN Radiologic Technologist CT to join our team! The Radiologic Technologist CT is responsible for performing a wide variety of routine and advanced imaging procedures. The Technologist uses a variety of radiographic equipment, computers, and detectors.Essential Functions:Sets up and operates radiographic equipment used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patientsSelects proper ionizing factors for radiologic diagnosisPositions patient and set up and adjust equipment to obtain the best quality x-ray of the specific body area requested by the physicianTakes preventative steps to minimize radiation exposure to the patient and fellow staffAdjusts and sets radiographic controls, such as kilovoltage and milliamperage, to prescribed specifications for proper timing of exposureRegulates the length and intensity of film exposurePositions and restrains patients; and takes X-rays of patients chest, limbs, or other body parts as requested by the physiciansChecks X-ray for clarity of image, and retakes X-rays when neededProtect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols and following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, such as contrast media, administering first aid, and using the emergency cartMaintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of suppliesKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of the principles and practices of diagnostic radiographic proceduresKnowledge of basic chemistry, film apparatus, and film processing techniquesKnowledge of how disease and injuries are diagnosed and imaged radiographicallyKnowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the workKnowledge of human anatomyKnowledge of computer and relevant software applicationsStrong attention to detail: being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasksAbility to work independently by guiding oneself with little or no supervision, and depending one oneself to get things doneAbility to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flowEducation and Experience:Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or Associates Degree in Radiology StudiesLicensed by the Medical State Board of Texas as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT)Certification in CT by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT-CT)Basic Life Support (BLS) CertificationOne (1) year of experience in CTTownsen Memorial Hospital is an accredited network of facilities with an emphasis on emergency care, outpatient surgery, and diagnostics and imaging.
