Principal Linux Systems Administrator TS/SCI w/Poly

Overview Amentum is seeking a motivated and experienced Linux Systems Administrator to lead and maintain a modern DevOps architecture supporting Integrated Discovery Operations (IDO). The role drives availability, reliability, and performance improvements while maintaining security posture. Responsibilities Design, maintain, and support operations and maintenance activities for a large enclave of hardware, software, and network components including servers, virtual machines, managed switches, NAS, VLANs, and VPNs. Develop and execute strategies to migrate existing customers to new architecture with minimal impact. Evaluate and recommend new technologies or equipment that can be added to agency standard solutions. Provide user‑level support, interacting with system‑savvy developers and analysts, resolving network, computer, and virtual system issues. Maintain enclave documentation (network diagrams, system names, IP addresses, barcodes) and provide monthly activity reports that include system outages. Ensure compliance with security protocols, vulnerability remediation, data security, and backup/recovery requirements. Qualifications Network administration experience: installing, configuring, and maintaining network devices; configuring routing protocols; troubleshooting multi‑hop connectivity, throughput, and latency; setting up firewalls. Security and compliance: secure infrastructure, vulnerability corrections, data security, compliance, backups, and recovery; maintain SSPs, STE/STN requirements via RMF, Netseer, SEAR logging, patching, IAVMs, McAfee, UAM. Deployment and maintenance of nginx and monitoring platforms such as OpenVAS, Prometheus, and Grafana. Knowledge of SELinux and FIPS; familiarity with LatteArt/Biscotti, Netseer, SEAR logging. Minimum educational and experience requirements (see table below). Preferred: familiarity with Docker, MongoDB, Elastic Search; Ansible and GitLab; RedHat Satellite; working knowledge of software‑defined networks. Minimum Years of Experience Doctoral degree + 7 years of relevant experience. Master's degree + 9 years of relevant experience. Bachelor's degree + 11 years of relevant experience. Associate’s degree + 13 years of relevant experience. 18 semester hours of military coursework/training in a computer‑related field + 10 years of relevant experience. High School diploma/GED + 15 years of relevant experience.
