Lead Java Full Stack Engineer

Role Description
We are seeking a nearshore Full Stack Lead Engineer to build and support commerce backend services and AI-driven, agentic checkout flows with strong validation and guardrails. You will collaborate across backend and frontend components while ensuring scalable, reliable, compliant delivery.
- Design backend services for commerce domain systems such as payment, loyalty, and promotions
- Build REST APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot
- Enable AI-driven and agentic checkout flows with validations and guardrails
- Implement scalable and reliable service patterns to meet performance needs
- Ensure compliance and reliability standards across services and integrations
- Develop and maintain selected frontend components using ReactJS
- Integrate AI-assisted workflows into backend systems using Anthropic Claude Code
- Coordinate technical decisions and unblock delivery across nearshore collaboration
- Operate within required US Pacific Time overlap through 4pm PST minimum
Qualifications
- 5+ years backend development experience with Java and Spring Boot
- Practical production experience with Anthropic Claude Code
- 5+ years experience building REST APIs and microservices
- Lead-level experience guiding technical decisions and delivery
- Commerce domain experience supporting payment, loyalty, promotion, or related systems
- Cloud platform experience with GCP and/or Azure
- Strong ability to overlap with US Pacific Time and cover until 4pm PST minimum
- Production experience developing front-end components with ReactJS
- Exposure to AI-assisted or agent-based workflows and backend integrations
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new tools, patterns, and technologies
- Upper-Intermediate English proficiency (B2)
