Senior Classification/Compensation Consultant

UNC Charlotte is hiring a Senior Classification/Compensation Consultant. The role requires independently evaluating complex position classifications, determining exemption statuses, conducting market and equity analysis, and providing organizational design recommendations. The consultant advises university administrators and HR partners on compensation matters, ensures compliance with laws, and supports training and reporting initiatives for the institution. Highlights Perform market and equity analysis to assess salaries and address compensation issues. Analyze market data for range updates and compensation administration to maintain competitiveness. Conduct job analysis, classify positions, determine salary ranges, and assess exemption status (FLSA and SHRA/EHRA). Act independently with comprehensive knowledge of the state classification system and procedures. Advise campus and HR partners on compensation and position design matters. Interpret policies and best practices related to classification and compensation. Collaborate with customers and internal teams to resolve sensitive or unique compensation issues. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations; prepare and present compensation reports to leadership. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field with 5+ years in compensation analysis, proficiency in compensation software, HRIS systems, salary benchmarking, and advanced Excel skills. Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree, familiarity with UNC System compensation structures, CCP designation, and professional HR certifications (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP).
