Dinosaur Bar-B-Que began in 1983 as a mobile concession unit serving great Bar-B-Que throughout the Northeast. In 1988, the company opened its first restaurant in Syracuse and has continued to grow to five locations serving delicious Bar-B-Que throughout New York State. We are currently looking for a Prep Cook to join our Hamburg team!

HOW YOU FIT INTO DINOSAUR BAR-B-QUE (Job Summary):

The Prep Cook efficiently and accurately prepares food and ingredients while maintaining quality, consistency, and food safety standards. The Prep Cook is responsible for completing assigned prep work, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen area, and collaborating effectively with kitchen team members to support timely and high-quality service.

WHAT YOU DO (Essential Functions)

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

• Prepare menu items and ingredients according to recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
• Complete assigned prep work according to Dinosaur Bar-B-Que specifications.
• Set up and maintain the prep station with required ingredients, equipment, and supplies.
• Keep kitchen work areas, equipment, utensils, and surfaces clean, sanitary, and organized.
• Complete daily and weekly cleaning duties in accordance with food safety standards.
• Handle, store, label, and rotate food products safely.
• Safely operate knives, slicers, and other preparation equipment.
• Assist kitchen team members as needed to support smooth, efficient operations.
• Respond to food preparation requests and communicate with management or team members as needed.
• Stock and maintain stations by placing plates, utensils, pans, and cases on shelves.

WHAT YOU KNOW (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

• Capable of using knives, slicing equipment, and other food preparation equipment.
• Knowledge of menu items, including ingredients, preparation methods, recipes, portion sizes, and preparation standards.
• Ability to follow written recipes, instructions, and verbal direction accurately.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members, management, and guests.
• Ability to remain calm and positive under pressure.
• Ability to manage assigned work, prioritize responsibilities, and meet established deadlines.
• Ability to solve problems and communicate questions or concerns to a supervisor.
