The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Open Systems Software Lead Engineer to join the Phantom Works team located in Berkeley, MO . This position will focus on developing Mission Systems software for the Air Dominance Division of Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

While the specific details of this program cannot be disclosed in this forum, we are developing a variety of software components specifically for this program, utilizing open architecture design constructs, modern software development tools and processes with multi-use across Boeing Mission System programs.

Position Responsibilities:

• Primary Open Mission Systems (OMS)/ Universal Command and Control Interface (UCI) and software architecture lead for Mission Systems software
• Develops and leads implementation of containerized software architecture across multiple types of hardware
• Leads implementation of open architecture constructs like OMS, Open Communication Standard (OCS); utilizing the UCI
• Defines boundaries for OMS Subsystems, requirements and service contracts for OMS services, and OMS isolators
• Defines compliance standards and flows requirements for open systems to Mission Systems teams
• Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system
• Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities
• Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics
• Leads software research and development projects
• Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards
• Trains and mentors' others
• Works under minimal direction

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
• Ability to obtain Top Secret US Security Clearance (Post-Start)
• 1+ years' experience in developing large-scale software systems
• 5+ years' professional experience with C, C++, C#, Python, Java, or Ada
• Experience in integrating complex applications on Windows and Linux platforms
• 5+ years' experience with software architecture and design of embedded software systems
• 3+ years' experience leading a project or technical team
• 5+ years' experience with requirements, design, development, and test of software systems products

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• Experience working on Mission System Products

• Experience developing mission systems software on aircraft platforms
• Experience developing and documenting software architecture using Cameo, or similar Model Based Systems Engineering tools
• Experience with Open Architecture standards, such as OMS
• Experience working on an Agile team using Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience)

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
