About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: Illinois state RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association), PALS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: EPIC experience, Trauma level 2 or higher preferred Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process and technology. Essential functions include performing all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided. Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care based on patient and family needs. Implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifies the plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. Takes responsibility for patient and staff safety by reporting and correcting safety hazards and incidents. Communicates directly and privately to resolve issues as necessary. Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers. Confers with colleagues to expand the knowledge base. Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to find appropriate solutions. Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. Implements procedures and theories specific to emergency department nursing. Performs patient assessment and develops care plans in collaboration with providers, family, and patients. Executes the plan of care and nursing interventions. Modifies care plans based on continuous assessment. Is responsible for patient and staff safety through appropriate nursing interventions, adhering to safety standards. Effectively communicates and collaborates with staff, visitors, and families to promote a healthy work environment. Maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation. Schedule includes two call shifts per six-week schedule period. A two-week night rotation is required for all travelers. No block scheduling is available.
