Position Overview The University is seeking a Campus Police Officer for the Department of Public Safety. This is a full‑time, in‑person position with 24/7 coverage on the William Paterson University campus. Responsibilities Patrol campus buildings and grounds on foot or vehicle to ensure safety and security. Respond to incidents, enforce state laws, and manage traffic on campus. Conduct investigations, record reports, and preserve evidence. Coordinate with municipal, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies. Assist with special events, provide police escort, and administer first aid. Operate radios and body‑worn cameras, maintain vehicle and equipment. Participate in ongoing training, including active shooter and sexual assault response. Qualifications Minimum age 18, U.S. citizenship, NewJersey resident with valid driver’s license. High school graduation or equivalent. Successful completion of the NJ Police Training Commission Basic Course within 9 months of hire. Ability to pass medical, psychological, drug test, and background investigation. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse populations, and sound judgment. Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Compensation & Benefits Base salary $69,244.57. Eligible for health, dental, and retirement benefits.
