Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Job Description

Job Summary:

Provide specialized nursing care to adult patients in an Oncology, Hematology, or related medical unit. Perform comprehensive patient assessments and deliver evidence-based treatments aligned with unit protocols.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct patient care to adults with cancer, hematology, or related diagnoses, ensuring optimal clinical outcomes.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and specialized treatments including chemo, NG tubes, and chest tubes.
• Monitor patient status, respond to physiological changes, and document findings accurately in the EMR.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and families on disease management, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain compliance with safety standards, including proper use of specialty equipment and adherence to protocols.

Qualifications:

• Hold an active NY RN license and all required licenses, with verification through NURSYS report.
• Possess a minimum of 2 years of recent experience in medical-surgical or oncology nursing.
• Demonstrate proficiency with EMR systems, preferably EPIC.
• Maintain current AHA BLS, NIHSS, and chemo certification.
• Possess a valid driver's license with address matching demographic information.
• Exhibit strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to float between units as needed.
