Details Work in the Emergency Department of a Level I Trauma, Teaching, and Children's Hospital Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:30 36 or 48-hour shifts available, with 48-hour contracts limited to travelers with both Level I trauma and travel experience Approximately 60-80% of the ED census consists of admitted patients, with many rooms functioning as ED Holding Patient ratio of 1:5 Weekend scheduling as needed, including Saturday and Sunday days, and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights No on-call requirements Floating to Peds ED is optional; floating to Adult PCUs is expected based on staffing needs, with potential floating to ED Holding and Trauma areas Uses Cerner charting system Facility retains the right to call off up to 3 times during a 13-week assignment Requirements Active RN license (NM or Compact) required, pending license accepted at submission Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC (TNCC required before submission) RQI certifications not accepted Minimum 2 years of ED experience required, with candidates having 1.5 years considered Level II trauma experience required, Level I trauma experience strongly preferred Travel experience strongly preferred; candidates with 2 years of Level I trauma experience may be considered without travel experience Preferred experience in teaching hospital settings Preferred charge nurse experience Preferred experience with Cerner charting system Preferred skills include arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, IV therapy, care of ventilated patients, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation, and trauma/resuscitation care Experience with neuro-trauma, CVA, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, gunshot wounds, and traumatic amputations preferred Non-local candidates must maintain a valid driver's license on file Additional Information Provide direct patient care including IV medication administration using the seven medication rights, and document and communicate clinical findings Currently experiencing an increased number of admit holds within the department Facility is a 554 staffed-bed Level I Trauma, Children's Hospital, and Teaching Hospital Black scrubs required, not provided by facility COVID vaccination is optional, though facility is required to report vaccine numbers or accept a declination Must reside outside a 100-mile radius of the facility to be eligible; no local candidates accepted Holiday coverage required for 2 of the following 3 bundles: Thanksgiving and the day after, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, or New Year's Eve and New Year's Day Christmas RTO is not permitted RTO requests greater than 7 days require approval, with a maximum of 7 days and 1 holiday preferred; no RTO permitted during the first or last 7 days of the contract First-time travelers may be considered if they have 2 years of Level I trauma experience, though travel experience is strongly preferred Former staff must have a 12-month separation before returning to the facility Travelers who have completed 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark require a 6-month system break New contracts and extensions require a minimum length of 10 weeks American Traveler Job ID P-742023.
