Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Type of Engagement : 12-month contract to hire (Not open to 3rd party C2C consultants. Visa sponsorship is not available)
Work Location: Hybrid position in Bayshore, NY (4 days onsite)


Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer to support and drive operational excellence across our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical engineering background with hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication, including stamping, rolling, cutting, press operations, assembly processes, and machine shop operations.

This role will be responsible for improving manufacturing processes, supporting new product introductions, leading SAP implementation initiatives, validating manufacturing master data, and collaborating closely with production, quality, engineering, and supply chain teams. The successful candidate must be equally comfortable working on the production floor with operators and presenting project updates to senior leadership.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Manufacturing Process Engineering

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing processes to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.
• Provide engineering support for sheet metal fabrication processes including:
  • Stamping
  • Roll forming
  • Press operations
  • Cutting operations
  • Assembly processes
  • Machine shop operations
• Evaluate and recommend process improvements, automation opportunities, tooling enhancements, and workflow optimization.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and improve throughput.
• Support capacity planning and manufacturing efficiency initiatives.

SAP ERP Implementation & Manufacturing Master Data

• Lead and support SAP ERP implementation projects related to manufacturing operations.
• Validate and maintain:
  • Bills of Material (BOMs)
  • Routings
  • Work Centers
  • Manufacturing Master Data
• Coordinate cross-functional testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and validation activities.
• Ensure manufacturing data accuracy and process compliance across ERP systems.
• Partner with production, planning, and IT teams during system implementations and upgrades.

New Product Development (NPD)

• Support New Product Development and commercialization activities.
• Develop manufacturing plans, process routings, work instructions, and production documentation for new products.
• Coordinate production trials and first article builds.
• Provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) recommendations to engineering teams.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

• Support quality assurance initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
• Lead root cause analysis investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurring issues.
• Utilize Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement tools to reduce waste and improve process performance.
• Analyze production and quality data to identify opportunities for improvement.

Automation & Advanced Manufacturing

• Identify opportunities for manufacturing automation and robotics integration.
• Support implementation and optimization of CNC machinery and automated production equipment.
• Collaborate with maintenance and production teams on equipment performance improvements.

Leadership & Communication

• Lead cross-functional project teams during SAP implementations and operational improvement initiatives.
• Develop and deliver professional presentations to production teams, management, and executive leadership.
• Build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization.
• Maintain a regular presence on the production floor and effectively engage with operators, supervisors, technicians, and managers.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical degree will also be considered.
• 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment.
• Experience in sheet metal manufacturing processes including stamping, forming, rolling, cutting, and assembly.
• Experience working in machine shop environments.
• Demonstrated experience supporting or leading SAP ERP manufacturing implementations.
• Experience validating BOMs, routings, work centers, and production master data.
• Experience supporting New Product Development launches.
• Quality assurance and root cause analysis experience required.
• Experience with robotics, automation systems, and CNC machinery preferred.
