The Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional responsible for coordinating patient care delivery by the healthcare team. The RN assesses the patient, identifies nursing diagnoses based on health responses, and develops an individualized plan of care. The RN promotes safe passage for patients to assist them through healthcare encounters without preventable complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions to healthcare personnel based on each patient's condition and the competencies of the staff. This job is applicable to RNs in hospital inpatient and outpatient departments with 24/7 staffing needs.

Key Responsibilities: Using clinical judgment, the RN conducts accurate clinical assessments as per practice standards. Identifies and prioritizes patient and family needs. Develops, implements, and evaluates the nursing plan of care, modifying it to meet clinical outcomes. Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice. Creates a compassionate and supportive environment for patients and families. Maintains therapeutic relationships while managing physical and emotional pain. Recognizes and incorporates unique differences of patients and families into care plans. Preserves and protects the dignity and rights of patients and families. Facilitates learning for patients and families regarding their health care and treatments. Works collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement integrated care plans. Uses strategies and available resources for effective problem-solving. Participates in shared governance and contributes to professional development.

Key Skills: Knowledge of nursing and patient care standards. Understanding of medical terminology and principles of health promotion. Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential. Adept at observing changes in patient conditions and communicating these to other staff. Ability to provide quality, patient-centered care and modify plans as necessary. General computer skills, including knowledge of electronic medical documentation systems.
