HVAC Lead Install Technician

Position Summary The HVAC Lead Install Technician is responsible for installing residential and light commercial HVAC systems in accordance with Ongaro & Sons quality standards, as well as all local codes and manufacturer requirements. This includes installing equipment, ductwork, and indoor air quality (IAQ) products. The ideal candidate is experienced, detail-oriented, and comfortable handling all aspects of HVAC installation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Communicate effectively with the project coordinator to ensure a smooth installation Read mechanical drawings, code books, and manufacturer installation manuals Have strong knowledge of all residential equipment, including mini‑split single and multi‑zone systems, conventional heating and cooling systems, modulating equipment, package units (both gas/electric and heat pumps), zone systems and conventional heat pumps Communicate effectively with the customer regarding their project overview and progress Strong understanding of how a HVAC system should optimally work Understand duct designs and layout, and perform air balancing with a flow hood Work with sheet metal and make transitions as needed Diagnose problems, test and make adjustments to HVAC systems Understand low‑voltage electrical and have basic diagnostic skills when issues arise Have strong time‑management skills Lead a team and perform all work duties in a timely manner Use tech support to help resolve troubleshooting issues Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas Perform other work‑related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) High school diploma or GED At least 3 years of experience in HVAC installation EPA certification (required) Good oral and written communication skills Ability to use an iPad effectively Clean driving record Highly motivated and able to work independently Benefits 100% paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employee 100% paid disability insurance for employee 401(k) with matching plan up to 4% after one year Life insurance up to $100,000 56 hours of FTO time for 0–2 years employed 40 hours of sick time, annually after 90 days of employment Tool and education fund Opportunity for growth within the company Company‑provided uniforms Company‑provided truck Company‑provided iPhone and iPad Company‑provided training Equal Employment Opportunity Ongaro and Sons is committed to developing a culture of diversity, equity, respect, and inclusion and striving to maintain a workforce that reflects the communities that we serve.
