Lead Electrical Systems Engineer - Avionics & Flight Hardware

A confidential space and defense engineering company is looking for a Lead Electrical Systems Engineer to take ownership of the electrical architecture behind complex flight hardware. This is a role for someone who can lead the electrical direction of a vehicle while remaining close to the detail: making sound design decisions, solving integration issues in the lab and taking hardware through qualification. What you will do: Own electrical-system architecture across avionics, flight electronics, power distribution and vehicle interfaces Define electrical requirements, interface-control documentation and integration plans Lead schematic, PCB, harness, grounding and electrical-interface design activity Support hardware bring-up, debugging, troubleshooting and environmental qualification Work closely with systems, software, mechanical, GNC and payload teams to resolve integration challenges Provide technical leadership and guidance while remaining hands‑on with detailed engineering work What you will bring: 7+ years of hands‑on electrical engineering experience Strong grounding in analog and digital circuit design, schematic capture and PCB development Experience with avionics, flight electronics, spacecraft, payload, launch‑vehicle, missile or other complex aerospace hardware Experience with power distribution, harnessing, electrical interfaces and lab‑based hardware troubleshooting The ability to lead technical work across disciplines without stepping away from the engineering detail Experience with embedded processors, flight computers, FPGA-based systems, CAN, Ethernet, RS-422/485, SPI, I2C or UART would be useful.
