Construction Estimator

Construction Estimator Job Description Accountable for plan takeoffs, setting estimated costs, preparing project bids and budgets, and estimating projects by reviewing proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related records. Coordinates with trade departments to produce cost estimates and proposals. Responsibilities Understand and comply with all WPI policies, procedures, and corporate safety program. Actively participate in the safety plans and measures of the assigned projects. Review contract language, scope of work, and special provisions in the contract and ensure project team members are aware of these items. Work with other departments to put together complete estimates. Review drawings, specifications, bid forms, and other paperwork to prepare detailed proposals. Use mathematical algorithms to calculate the amount of material required. Communicate with the client during the bidding phase and on any modifications of a project. Support project management throughout the beginning stage to explain any problems in the budget. Assess budget and plan profitability status and objectives. Ask for feedback on corrective actions to enhance the continuous identification and reliability of cost figures. Thoroughly analyze different areas of a project to collect relevant data. Support and visit assigned job sites, participate in, and conduct job meetings as required. Basic Requirements At least 2 years of construction estimation work experience. Minimum Requirements Experience with estimating/project management/managing specialty scopes of construction. Ability to analyze and process key information, recognize critical areas on the job that could impact profitability, and actively navigate the project away from risks and liabilities for a successful outcome. Understand field productivity, as well as material and equipment costs. Clear understanding of how to read and understand specifications and drawings. Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong math skills. Ability to work in a team environment. Strong customer service skills. Ability to multitask, think critically, and problem‑solve. Ability to learn new job skills through technical training and apply them as taught. Must be able to work independently, make decisions, and follow through on all assignments. Must possess strong organizational and computer skills and have a high level of competency in reading, writing, and speaking English, interpreting construction documentation, and communicating with coworkers. Preferred Requirements Proficient in Bluebeam, OnScreen Takeoff, and QuickBid. Commercial drywall experience. Local to office. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
