Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Key Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
• Valid Alabama Teacher’s Certificate
• Meets Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requirements or shows willingness to fulfill requirements within the set timeframe
• Holds or is able to obtain all required licensure for Deaf/Hard of Hearing teaching within Alabama
• Prior experience teaching or supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing is highly valued
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Role Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and group instruction to Deaf or Hard of Hearing students
• Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum and support inclusion
• Create and implement specialized learning plans tailored to student needs
• Monitor and report on student progress, maintaining thorough documentation
• Encourage students’ self-advocacy and independence through specialized strategies
• Work closely with families and support staff to promote student success
• Support IEP development, implementation, and compliance with district and state guidelines
