Juvenile Support Aide - JSA

Position Overview The Juvenile Support Aide is responsible for providing safe and consistent oversight of youth, ensuring their daily routines and needs are met across various shift times. JSAs work in a collaborative team environment, assisting with supervision, behavioral monitoring, and activity facilitation to promote a positive residential experience. Shift Details The work week runs from Saturday through Friday. Full-time employees typically work approximately 40 hours weekly, with shift durations generally lasting eight hours. Shifts include: 7am – 3pm: Supervising morning routines, escorting residents to and from school, monitoring during meals, and assisting with appointments. 3pm – 11pm: Overseeing behavioral groups, recreational activities, and evening hygiene routines. 11pm – 7am: Conducting room checks, documentation, and preparing for the next day's activities. Key Responsibilities Supervise youth during daily activities, meals, and transitions. Escort residents to and from school, medical appointments, and scheduled activities. Monitor and document behavior, ensuring safety and compliance with program policies. Assist with routines such as hygiene, religious services, and recreational activities. Support team efforts to maintain a structured, secure environment conducive to youth development. Qualifications Must be at least 21 years of age. High school diploma or GED required. Two (2) years of experience in the care, custody, or supervision of youth or adults in a human services, education, corrections, behavioral health, or related setting. Must be able to obtain and maintain all mandatory background clearances (see below). Mandatory Background Clearances Because JSAs work directly with youth, all candidates must complete and pass the following three background clearances before attending training or working on site in proximity to any youth: FBI Background Clearance (fingerprint-based) PA Child Abuse History Clearance — must be the employment-purpose clearance; a volunteer-level Child Abuse Clearance does not satisfy this requirement PA State Police Criminal Record Clearance Additional clearance requirements: All new hires must obtain new clearances at the time of hire , regardless of any clearances previously held. Existing staff must renew all three clearances at least every five years . FSN covers the full cost of all required clearances. FSN will provide electronic copies of all clearances to BJJS Human Resources prior to your start date — no JSA may begin employment until this step is complete.
