Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room (ER) provides skilled nursing care to patients with a wide range of acuity levels, including stroke, STEMI, trauma, behavioral health, and critically ill patients. This role involves patient assessment, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced Level II Trauma Center. The nurse must maintain certifications and demonstrate strong communication and clinical skills to deliver high-quality care.
Responsibilities:
The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room (ER) provides skilled nursing care to patients with a wide range of acuity levels, including stroke, STEMI, trauma, behavioral health, and critically ill patients. This role involves patient assessment, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced Level II Trauma Center. The nurse must maintain certifications and demonstrate strong communication and clinical skills to deliver high-quality care.
Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor vital signs.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Provide care to patients with acute and critical conditions including stroke, STEMI, trauma, and behavioral health emergencies.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic medical records.
- Respond to emergencies and provide life-saving interventions as needed.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges within the ER setting.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in unit float assignments as required.
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in emergency or critical care settings.
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC.
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system.
- Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
- Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration abilities.
- Experience working in a Level II Trauma Center or similar high-acuity environment.
- Familiarity with stroke and STEMI protocols and behavioral health patient management.
- Additional certifications relevant to emergency nursing or critical care.
- Float assignments within the unit are required.
- Weekend and holiday work is mandatory.
- All requests for time off (RTO) must be submitted with the initial application; flexibility for holiday shifts is highly encouraged.
- Scrub colors permitted: any except reddish orange.
- Work environment includes a Level 2 adult trauma center and Level 3 pediatric trauma center with high patient acuity.
- Three 12-hour evening shifts per week (3x12 schedule).
- Guaranteed 60 hours per two-week pay period.
- Shift assignments include weekends and holidays as scheduled.
